wisdom teeth removal

Protect your oral health before complications arise

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to develop—typically appearing in the late teens or early twenties. While some erupt normally, many become impacted or misaligned, which can lead to crowding, jaw pain, infection, or damage to surrounding teeth.

A female dentist, wearing a mask, loupes, and surgical cap, performs a procedure on a patient in a well-equipped dental office.

At Southland Dental, we use digital X-rays and cone beam CT imaging to assess wisdom teeth positioning and root development. Early intervention helps prevent future issues and makes the procedure more predictable and comfortable.

Common Reasons for Wisdom Tooth Removal
  • Impaction (trapped in the jawbone or gums)

  • Pressure against neighbouring teeth

  • Increased risk of decay or gum infection

  • Pain, swelling, or jaw stiffness

What to Expect

Depending on the case, wisdom teeth may be removed in-office using local anesthesia or sedation. For complex cases, we coordinate care under general anesthesia at an accredited non-hospital surgical facility. Our team will guide you through every step, from pre-op planning to post-operative care and healing.

Removing problematic wisdom teeth now can prevent more serious complications later—and help preserve your long-term oral health.
